The Pirate FM Duck Race - May 2011

The Pirate FM Duck Race took place on Sunday 8th May 2011 on the St Austell River at London Apprentice, opposite the entrance to The Cornwall Hotel Spa and Estate.

The winning duck was: Number 3: "Ann's Quackage" Sponsored by: Ann's Cottage Surf Shops.

In second was number 5 "Big Gunner" sponsored by Big Man Shop.

Third was number 26 "Tempura Duck" sponsored by Cornwall Staff Agency.

It was anybody's race, with obstacles like rocks, weed and the foliage on the riverbanks quickly slowing down early leaders. All the 'swimmers' finished the 15 minute course, in blustery but sunny conditions.

Ann's Cottage get £5,000 which they have chosen to donate to the Precious Lives Appeal.

Katrina Baker from Bodmin was on of the listeners who backed the winning duck and was drawn at random as the winner of the other £5,000!
