More MMR Jabs Rushed to Cornwall
8:02am 23rd June 2013
Pirate FM has learnt more MMR vaccines are being rushed into Cornwall.
It is amid fears the Duchy could face an outbreak.
Only one person has come down with it so far this year.
But experts are worried the summer holidays could mean it spreads in from other areas.
Doctor Kerry Bailey is a public health consultant: "MMR is a safe vaccine. Both of my children have had it and I would encourage everybody who has a child under the age of 18 to get them vaccinated as soon as possible if they haven't had two vaccines.
"Measles is a very serious disease. It can cause pneumonia or even brain conditions and of course even death. We haven't seen it for a long time so I think people have forgotten how serious it can be."
