Strange Bright Orb Sighted in Sky
7:01am 5th July 2013
Reports are reaching Pirate FM of a strange orange orb in the skies over Cornwall.
Witnesses tell us it is warm and bright and has driven away the Duchy's covering of cloud.
Experts say it could mean temperatures of up to 26C in the Duchy over the weekend.
Greg Dewhurt from the Met Office is calling this phenomenon "summer": "We'll see high pressure taking control of the weather so that generally means dry, settled weather with sunny spells and light winds.
"So it will be great for getting out and about - hill walking or visiting the coasts - especially in the sunshine.
"There are indications from certain models that the high pressure, settled weather may last.
"We'll have to keep an eye on it but this will indicate generally sunnier spells across the southwest and feeling warm with temperatures slightly above average."
John Lewis runs a bed and breakfast in Tintagel. He said: "I thought it was going to be a bad year because of the economic situation, no money, etc. but it's just gone fantastic.
"We have the odd empty room now and again but it's been good - and it's getting better.
"You only get out of work and business what you put into it. If you put nothing in, you get nothing out.
"They don't want to pay as much, but they want everything. That's their high expectations. They're giving you money, so we've got to give them back service really."
Forecasters have told Pirate FM the sunny weather is set to last through the weekend in Cornwall, with a cooling breeze on the coasts.
The start of next week also looks bright, dry and settled.7:01am 5th July 2013
