Road Safety Warning For Cornish Parents
8:01am 14th July 2013
New accident figures have sparked calls for Cornish parents to teach their children more about road safety.
It is after Pirate FM revealed a third of Cornish children have come close to serious injury or even death.
The Child Accident Prevention Trust says one of the biggest near misses is stepping out infront of traffic.
Christine Rowe, who patrols a school crossing in Illogan, said: "I've had one or two incdidents when I've been stood here and kids forget to stop at the edge and just run across, and I've had to shout at them.
Christine has this plea for parents: "They want to get their child to the school and get off to work as quick as they can. People just cross the road anywhere, instead of coming up to me and crossing with me, and that doesn't give their child a good example either."
