Mortality Rates Spark Hospital Funding Calls
8:00am 21st July 2013
There are calls for Cornwall's biggest hospital to get more government funding.
It comes after Pirate FM told you the chances of dying at Treliske rise by a quarter at the weekend.
The hospital says patients can always get safe, good quality care.
St Ives MP Andrew George said: "Treliske receives a lower tariff funding than any other hospital in the country and they're under particular pressure whilst at the same time having to pay back a 25 million pound debt so the financial pressures on Treliske, I think, put them in an extremely unfair position.
"They tell me that this is something about which they have been aware for some time and that they have been taking action over the last year to get on top of this issue. They clearly are not fully on top of it yet because A&E waits at Treliske are still not good enough."
