Cornwall's Summer Drink-Drive Warning
3:17pm 12th August 2013
Cornwall gets a summer drink-drive warning, as it is revealed one in five people breathalised in June were over the limit or refused.
That is a four percent increase on the same time last year.
It comes after a month long crackdown by police saw nearly 800 tests dished out across the Duchy and Devon.
Inspector Richard Pryce from Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "The message has been around for some quite considerable time and to be perfectly honest, it is common sense. So therefore yeah, I do get extremely frustrated every year when I look at the figures and I see just how many people that we test, and we find are over the drink-drive limit.
"It can cause serious injury, it can take people's lives. But when you look at the social consequences, if you are caught drink-driving, if your job relies on your licence you could very much end up losing your job. If obviously, your mortgage or your rent payments come from your earnings, you could end losing your home as well."
