Straight A Student 'May Be Forced To Study in Romania'

A straight A Cornish student fears she will be forced to move to Romania to study because no British uni would take her.

Miriam Bourne from Bodmin wants to study medicine and become a doctor.

She got top grades in her A-levels last week, but has now been turned down everywhere she has applied.

That is despite being invited for interviews at two of her four chosen universities.

Miriam told Pirate FM:"My first thought was I'd have to reapply again and I might not even get interviews this time. Just negative feelings really.

"After a couple of weeks I thought I have to pull myself together - because there are other ways."

Now Miriam is trying to raise £60,000 to help her follow her dream and become a doctor.

"Friends and families have been very supportive but, at the same time, I have no savings of my own.

"We're going to look into other funding options. There isn't a lot out there for people who want to study abroad and I can only go if I get the funding."
