There is a £45, 000 pay out for the grieving mum of a Penzance woman who died from cervical cancer.

Mercedes Curnow from Crowlas was just 23

Marazion surgery has settled the case out of court after delays referring her to a specialist.

Mum Sandra says women in other parts of the UK are going through the same thing: "I know girls who have lost their jobs. They have been so unwell and so ill that they've lost their jobs because their symptoms are not being investigated.

"Hopefully there's been an improvement and I'm sure GPs are working towards a different approach to young women, don't take face value. Surgeries are busy, very busy and we can understand that. But, I think if a young girl visits a surgery - it is for a reason."
