Cornwall has Highest Rate of MS in Britain
8:00am 13th October 2013
Pirate FM has learnt that Cornwall has the highest rate of MS in Britain.
There are more than 1, 000 people diagnosed in the Duchy, that is double the national average.
It is most commonly found in those aged 20 to 40.
But we don't know why our number is so high.
Sarah Snell, from the Merlin Centre in Hewas Water, said: "We support around 50 to 60 people a day. MS is something that affects people at quite a young age, it can have a huge impact on family life and on people's work.
"Cornwall has the highest rate of MS in mainland Britain, there are around a thousand people that are currently diagnosed, and that is double the national average."8:00am 13th October 2013
