Heavy Rain Sparks Floods In Cornwall
7:00am 4th November 2013
Two people have been rescued from their car stuck in flood water near Mawnan Smith.
It happened last night when the road to Constantine was turned into a river.
Firefighters carried them to safety and removed the vehicle that was stranded in around two feet of water, covering a 50m length of the road.
Teams have also been called to deal with businesses flooding in Lostwithiel and Penzance which found themselves under four inches of water yesterday evening.
There were fears the river at Pendarves near Camborne could burst its banks, sending water surging into homes.
Emergency crews have been pumping that out to try to relieve the pressure.
There is still a flood alert out for the Upper Tamar - but forecasters say we have had the worst of the heavy rain and say Monday should be mostly dry, bright and sunny.
