A knifeman is being hunted in Bodmin after a man was beaten and stabbed.

It happened first thing on Friday morning when the victim in his twenties passed a group of seven men on Higher Bore Street.

Police say words were exchanged and the victim met one of the men in the middle of the road.

The twenty-four year old was punched in the face, beaten to the ground and then stabbed three times in the left buttock.

He suffered two slight stab wounds, while a third required stitches. He has been left with bruises and swelling to the face.

Police want anyone who saw something to come forward.

They say the suspect is skinny, in his twenties, around 5'8" with dark, short, gelled back hair.
