Fire Engulfs Workshop

An engineering workshop has gone up in flames near St Columb, amid fears there could be gas cylinders inside.

Teams from the town were scrambled to Tregaswith in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

They have now brought in back up from St Dennis, Newquay, Wadebridge, St Austell and St Just.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "On receipt of this call, appliances from St. Columb and St. Dennis were mobilised, on arrival at the incident further resources were requested, two appliances from Newquay also a water carrier from Wadebridge was mobilised as well as support vehicles from St. Austell and St. Just.

"The incident involved a detached building used as an engineering workshop measuring 15 metres by 8 metres, the whole building is involved in fire, two high pressure hosereels and two main jets are in use."
