Schoolboy Put In Isolation Over Haircut

A Cornish schoolboy was put in isolation at school - after having a VW logo shaved into his hair.
Zac Ecclestone's mum Charlotte took the 11 year old home because she did not think it was fair.
She said: "It was a treat. His grandad took him to the barbers. We were saying in conversation how much he wanted one done. He went and did it - and paid to have it done. So, yes, it was a Christmas present really off of his grandad as well."
But staff at Camborne Science and International Academy put him in isolation, saying it breached their uniform rules.
It meant he could carry on with his studies - but on his own.
Charlotte said: "We got home and he just broke down. He was so upset. Gutted - really gutted about it.
"He's had a lot to go through. He's one of the youngest of his year. Plus he's got the odd learning difficulty - going into new situations is a very big thing to Zac. If he loses something it's the end of the world. And he's had a new brother to deal with. It's sort of been a rollercoaster since September."
After talks with the school Zac has now returned to lessons.
In a statement the school said: "Camborne Science and International Academy has very high expectations for our uniform, behaviour and student progress. These expectations support an ethos of achievement; at GCSE last year our school was the top performing state secondary school in Cornwall.
"Our parents, students and local community are proud of our reputation for excellence and we will maintain our high standards without compromise.
"We are pleased that Zac's parents have now complied with our uniform regulations and that Zac has returned to his lessons where we know he will be able to fulfil his potential."
Since the story broke Charlotte says she has been getting abuse - and insists she is not a bad mum.6:07am 17th January 2014
