Rugby: Cornish Pirates vs London Welsh
8:00am 16th March 2014
The Cornish Pirates welcome London Welsh to The Mennaye.
It is the latest in a string of tough Championship games as our boys still look for a play-off place.
Director of Rugby Ian Davies said: "That's the nature of the competition,. There are no easy games. London Welsh after the Bristol game, two sides who are pushing for promotion. Certainly they put squads together to be in that mix at the end of the season so it's going to be a tough challenge.
"We're still going for it until we mathematically can't but we've got to be realistic. I think we're 15 points away from the play offs. But it's now about us getting our house in order ready for the B&I Cup quarter final against Pontypridd which isn't going to be an easy fixture either."
The Pirates have made a number of changes to last week's team. Mike Pope returns on the wing and Rheon James, who appeared off the bench last week following his loan spell at Aberavon, is selected to partner Tom Riley in the centre.
Four forwards, prop Shane Cahill, hooker Rob Elloway, lock Darren Barry and flanker Chris Morgan are back to action, the latter taking back the skipper's armband worn at Bristol by Aaron Carpenter, who makes the move from the middle of the front-row back to No. 8.
Ian Davies added: "Our challenge is to maintain the attacking intent we showed against Bristol and give the home supporters a performance to be proud of."
The full line-up is as follows:-
Cornish Pirates: 15 Max Bodilly, 14 Mike Pope, 13 Tom Riley, 12 Rheon James, 11 Craig Holland, 10 Kieran Hallett, 9 Tom Kessell, 8 Aaron Carpenter, 7 Alex Cheesman, 6 Chris Morgan (capt), 5 Darren Barry, 4 Neale Patrick, 3 Ben Prescott, 2 Rob Elloway, 1 Shane Cahill.
