Cornwall's Jobs Conundrum
7:01am 22nd March 2014
Cornwall's jobs battle is revealed.
Statistics show the south-west is the only area in the UK where unemployment has risen.
Year on year, six thousand more people are out of work.
But the number in work is also at a record high.
That is because there are more people in the jobs market.
Tim Smit from The Eden Project reckons the future is looking much brighter: "What I would say is been there, done that and got the t-shirt. Unfortunately we had a really rubbish 2012, our 2013 was pretty good and there will be no more job losses. We've turned a corner.
"Like most places we had a hard time in this age of austerity. Also in common with all of the provincial destinations we were not able to get any assistance from central government, unlike the capital's great attractions."
