Are Electric Trains Coming to Cornwall?
4:32pm 24th March 2014
The next train to arrive in Cornwall could be electric.
The government is being urged to upgrade the line between London Paddington and Penzance.
The Transport Minister says they are looking at plans for Newbury and considering a report into going further.
It means the line could be faster and more efficient.
Graham Johns from Camborne is a railway maintenance worker, he said: "Environmentally it would be brilliant, because obviously with the rolling stock we wouldn't be using as much diesel. Down here because of our tight curves and all we haven't got great line speed, so it wouldn't be as good as it is on the west coast and east coast mainlines but certainly I think it would be an asset."
