The X Factor Comes to Cornwall
7:01am 31st March 2014
Hundreds of people have queued for hours in Newquay - for a shot at stardom.
It is after the X Factor auditions came to town.
There was no Simon or Cheryl but a panel still put around fifteen hopefuls through to the next round.
Among them was Elvis impersonator Marcellus Hocking who impressed - by doing the splits.
He told ITV's The Westcountry Tonight: "It's just a bit of fun really - to have a go on The X Factor. A bit like that Wagner, whatever he's called. I'm Elvis, I'm a local entertainer. I don't expect to go far - but it's just to say I've done it."
Queues began to build outside the town's Great Western Hotel at around 5am, including one woman who had flown in from Australia - complete with purple lipstick.
The session was supposed to run until mid-afternoon - but the sheer number of hopefuls meant it over ran to ensure that everyone's auditions could be heard.
The mobile auditions have a good track record of uncovering talent.
Former winner James Arthur was discovered by producers before being put in front of the full panel.
Now more than a dozen people from Cornwall are hoping the same thing will happen for them.7:01am 31st March 2014
