April Fool or Pasty Innovation?
7:38am 1st April 2014
Is this an April Fool or an idea for Cornish surfers worthy of Dragon's Den?
Cornish inventors have come up with a waterproof pasty pocket for surfers.
They claim it the titanium-lined Eco-Thermo Skin neoprene which is made of kelp and clay for max heat reflection helps to keep the pasty warm and dry for hours.
They say the Pocket can be attached to a wetsuit or surfboard like a GoPro and 5% of the profits will go to the RNLI.
Dickon Berriman, one of the RNLI Lifeguard Managers in Cornwall, says the Pasty Pocket is long overdue: "I can't believe someone hasn't designed something like this before. The issue of where to put your pasty before taking to the water has been an age-old problem for all us surfers and at last we can stop worrying. I'm particularly delighted that our charity is going to benefit from this superb invention. Let's face it many an RNLI volunteer and lifeguard has trained on a diet of tea and pasties and now a caring pocket for our national dish will help towards the costs of all our RNLI training."
Apparently, pre-orders of the product have already gone through the roof, with over 30 Cornish Pasty shops stocking the product, ready for release on April 14.
There are reports Pasty Pocket® intend on developing their range very soon for an international market to include a French Baguette Bag and Australian Kangaroo Steak Pouch.
April Fool or no? You decide.
