A new map reveals the best places to see the gentle giants of the sea.

Last year there were more than 100 basking shark sightings in Mount's Bay.

That is followed by more than twenty off Falmouth and fifteen off Land's End.

Eddie Billing from St Austell spotted one off Duporth.

He said: "It was fantastic, the first time I've ever seen a basking shark, so that is quite spectacular to go down and see that down there swimming and feeding I believe.

"You could see it there with a dorsal fin and you could see it splashing around, just circling and coming in quite close feeding, it was a real honour to see that out there, really great."
