Crumbling Cornish School Won't Get Repaired
3:12pm 7th May 2014
There is disappointment as a crumbling Cornish school is told ten million pounds worth of repairs won't happen.
Teachers at Helston Community College say C Block is in desperate need of work.
But the council has decided it can't afford to replace things like leaking roofs, especially after the winter storms.
Officials insist the building is safe and maintenance work will be done.
In the Cornwall Council cabinet meeting, Councillor Andrew Wallis said that all other funding options have run out and they can't use reserves because of the storm damage that needs to be repaired across Cornwall. He said it's a huge disappointment but there is not other option but not to proceed and he wishes things were different.3:12pm 7th May 2014
