Cornwall's Unemployment Rates Drop
8:02am 20th July 2014
It is claimed Cornwall's economic fortunes are well and truly on the turn.
Employment experts say the Duchy is bucking trends as the number of people out of work and on benefits falls significantly.
In the last year rates have dropped by well over a third and nationally by 29 percent.
Young people in particular are doing better.
Caroline Brewer is from Jobcentre Plus at Liskeard, she said: "There is a lot more support available, and we have been focusing on those groups who have been perhaps hit more hard by the economic down turn, or people who find it harder to get back to work, younger people and people over fifty.
"Month on month we're seeing an improvement, we're seeing more jobs in the labour market, we're seeing more people who perhaps would have struggled to get a job before, being supported back into work."8:02am 20th July 2014
