VIDEO: Comedian's 'Speak Cornish' Call
9:26am 21st July 2014
(Updated 9:26am 21st July 2014)
The Kernow King is backing a campaign to get more of us speaking Cornish.
We are being urged to tweet ten second videos in the language, to celebrate Speak Cornish Week, which runs until Saturday.
The Duchy has already got official minority status.
Supporters hope the new campaign will increase the number of people who regularly use the language.
Comedian The Kernow King said: "I think it's just good to learn something different. It makes you feel part of a bigger Cornish club
"Is there any better way of distinguishing our identity and how different we are to other places than our language? It doesn't matter whether you know much Cornish, or no Cornish or a little bit of Cornish. It's easy to learn a little bit - and learning's good."
Cornish Language Partnership Chair Councillor Julian German said: "Speak Cornish week is a great initiative. It doesn't matter how much or how little Cornish anyone has, we should all use it and take pride in it.
"Everyone can join in with the film challenge - all you need is a phrase in Cornish and your phone or camera to show your support. It is also a good time to decide to learn more Cornish!"
