Boardmasters Blown Away

Bastille say they are "gutted" after the Boardmasters music festival was called off.

It is after Bertha ripped through Cornwall with 50mph winds and torrential rain.

The surf competition went ahead but thousands were left disappointed when organisers decided it was too dangerous for the concert at Watergate Bay on Sunday.

On Twitter Emmerliejay wrote "Our campsite is absolute carnage. Everyone running round shouting and screaming with tent pegs. Pretty sure this is the end. Wah"

Around 20 tents blew away - and some people online said they were leaving anyway.

But Daisy Miller posted: "I could actually cry about Boardmasters being cancelled."

Bastille were due to headline on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Boardmasters said: "In light of the extreme weather conditions caused by hurricane Bertha, Boardmasters Festival at Watergate Bay has been cancelled.

"The international surf competition will be going ahead at the Fistral Beach site, as planned.
"Our guests, staff and performers' safety is our main concern and we have decided that the magnitude of the conditions is too severe for the arena site to be opened.
"We deeply regret the disappointment caused to festivalgoers on the final day of Boardmasters 2014.
"Customers are advised to visit www.boardmasters.co.uk for refund information."
