A schoolboy found alone in a fishing boat is plucked from the Gannel in Newquay.

Crews rescued the twelve year old on Saturday, after a rope got tangled in his propellor.

A spokesperson for Newquay lifeboat said: "Falmouth Coastguards received a request for assistance from a disabled fishing boat in the Gazzle.

"Arriving on scene the crew discovered a lone 12 year old boy aboard the fishing boat, the boat had a rope around its propeller.

"The boy was transferred to the lifeboat and returned to the harbour. Two of the crew boarded the vessel, removed the fouled rope and returned the boat to the harbour."

A kayaker was also saved after locals rang nine nine nine to report someone in trouble at Lusty Glaze.

A spokesperson added: "Both inshore lifeboats launched and quickly discovered a kayaker in difficulties. He was unable to get back onto his kayak and was attempting to swim the kayak into the beach.

"The volunteers recovered him and his kayak and returned them both to the harbour."
