Devonport's Future "Secure and Bright"

(Updated 2:42pm 9th December 2014)
The future is 'bright' for Devonport.
That is the message from the Defence Secretary during a visit to the Plymouth naval base on Tuesday.
In October, Pirate FM told you how a new maritime contract will secure four thousand jobs.
Here is what Michael Fallon had to say about that decision to shift submarines to Scotland: "The submarine service itself will be based from the 2020s on the Clyde but equally, the service fleet will be here in Devonport and in Portsmouth so these will the three main bases for the Navy for years to come; that future is secure.
Mr Fallon added that after swathing defence cuts, the time for investment is now: "Today I've been discussing with the Council the final details of the City Deal to nail that down, the transfer of land to the city which will create more jobs for the city so the future here is bright and it's secure."2:42pm 9th December 2014
