Lifton House Fire Tributes
6:28am 12th December 2011
Tributes are pouring in for the toddler killed in the Lifton house fire.
Locals say three year old Amelia Brown was a "bundle of joy".
Flowers have been left near the family of four's home at Grinacombe Moor on the Cornwall border.
The tot's grandparents raised the alarm on Friday night.
It is understood her mum was out.
So close to Christmas, Detective Sergeant Barry Mitchell tells the Westcountry Tonight it is "tragic": "People in the house realised that the fire was taking hold. A neighbour nearby also assisted in trying to make attempts to rescue the child. The fire service were obviously called, as we were. Following that we have now established that the fire started in the kitchen area".
Investigators will be going back over the scene later this morning.
