Horse Tortured To Death

There are fears a horse tortured to death at Stithians may have been the victim of a satanic ritual.

The stallion was cut and mutilated, with its mane and tail removed. Two puncture wounds on its neck is raising fears it was first shot with a stun gun. The other details are so horrific Pirate FM has decided not to broadcast them.

Police are hunting the knifeman responsible, who struck between Sunday afternoon and Monday lunchtime. The date coincides with an ancient ritual, which can involve blood sacrifices.

Owner Dawn Jewell is appalled, “I have my mare and foal in the field as well. They were running round not acting like themselves. Walking into the field I saw him flat out. That was sad enough in itself and then obviously walking up closer and seeing his injuries. Sick.

“I don't think it's really sunk in. I mean I could handle it if it was an animal, but for a person to do this it's just not right. It's horrible. I just don't get why they would do it to an animal which is harmless.

"With what I'm going through - I would hate anyone else to go through it. I mean, why? What was going through their head? It's disgusting. It's just sick".

The RSPCA is urging anyone who might have seen something to come forward.

Spokeswoman Jo Barr said, "There must be somebody out there that knows who's responsible. Perhaps they've seen something. Maybe they didn't realise at the time that what they were seeing was significant. If they do have any information, I would urge them to please contact the police so we can make sure it doesn't happen again".

A £2000 reward has been offered for the person who can help police catch the animal's killer.
