Treliske Pensioner Death: "Suicide"

An inquest rules a pensioner who plunged to his death from a window at Treliske took his own life.
Sidney Wilton had just had an operation.
He suffered chest and head injuries.
The Royal Cornwall Hospital released this statement:
“Our staff were shocked and saddened by the death of Sidney Wilton and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“The Coroner heard evidence that we had done all that could be expected to ensure his wellbeing both in terms of his clinical care and the safety of the windows in the ward in which he was staying.
“The Coroner commended the thoroughness of our own investigation following this tragic incident, which confirmed that we had a robust system of window maintenance checks in place which exceeded the required British standards. We will continue to follow best practice guidance to ensure we are doing everything we can to reduce the risk of a similar occurrence.”
