Police Investigate Treliske Ward Closure
4:16pm 15th February 2012
The Department of Health says police have been called in after a ward was shut and staff suspended at Cornwall's biggest hospital.
Treliske denies that.
But the watchdog is investigating allegations over a single patient's care at Wheal Agar.
Unison spokeswoman Chris Dayus tells the Westcountry Tonight bosses will want to get to the bottom of this as fast as possible: "In order to do that they've decided to make the staff readily available to be interviewed without distracting from the patient care and maybe causing distress for patients wondering what's going on.
"It's regrettable, obviously, that a ward has closed and that has meant that patients who were in that ward have had to be moved elsewhere, many of them just within the trust into other locations. An issue has been raised. The trust have decided to try to conduct an investigation as quickly as possible".
Bosses insist the closure is temporary and they ARE taking the matter seriously.
