Wind Turbine Warning
6:15pm 30th April 2012
A new report warns wind turbines could damage Cornwall's countryside forever.
The number taller than 30m has reached almost 100, with another 30 in planning.
Now The Campaign to Protect Rural England is releasing a turbine tranquility map and a map which shows turbine development alongside protected landscapes.
Spokesman Neil Sindon has written to the government - demanding action: "The English countryside is valued by the nation. It's an immensely valuable asset for the tourism industry as well. It's not just an issue of interest to local communities. I think we all need to take care of our back yards but we also all need to ensure that we're getting the right energy infrastructure in the right places.
"We do wonder whether we've got the balance right and we do think that in places like Cornwall, there are questions about whether or not the landscape of the county has anymore capacity to accommodate more wind turbines without damaging the quality of that landscape forever".
