Isles of Scilly Head Suspended
11:56am 22nd May 2012
Isles of Scilly officials investigate at Five Islands school.
The headteacher has been suspended.
Bosses are staying tight lipped about why Bryce Wilby has gone.
A joint statement by the Five Islands School Governing Body and the Council of the Isles of Scilly says:
"An issue of concern has been raised at the Five Islands School which is being looked into. The Governing Body will be considering this matter in due course"
Church bosses say they are providing any support needed at the Church of England school.
David Watson from the Diocese of Truro said:
"The Five Islands School is a Voluntary Controlled School, which means that it is run by a board of governors under the control of the Isles of Scilly Council"
"We have been made aware of the fact that the head teacher has been suspended from duty pending an investigation. At this point, however, we do not have any further information, but are confident that the investigation by the Isles of Scilly Council will be both thorough and fair"
"Our Director of Education is endeavouring to find out more detail about the circumstances of the suspension and to make sure that appropriate pastoral support is in place for everyone involved"
