Skin Cancer Warning for Cornwall
7:02am 11th June 2012
Pirate FM has learnt more people are diagnosed with skin cancer in Cornwall than anywhere else in the UK.
There have been more than 114 cases in the last two years.
Now students at Cornwall College are using special scanners to check for sun damage and being encouraged to wear protection.
It is part of the NHS Sun Safe campaign.
16 year old Jess from Mevagissey was shocked. "I had to put my head in a machine and there were, sort of, blotches on my face, where the sun had got to it.
"I do try to put sun screen on but I don't really put it on my face. I'll probably wear it more now that I've seen it in the machine, seen how bad it is".
