A Penzance man has been jailed after trying to rob a couple at knifepoint.

Truro Crown Court heard how Terrence Tennant lured the jewellery shop owners to a house in the town, under the pretence of selling them gold.

He then ambushed them in an overgrown lane brandishing a seven inch knife, but bottled out at the last minute.

The 48 year old has been handed three years in prison.
