Threatened Factory Workers Could Stage Sit-In
6:37am 11th July 2012
Pirate FM has learnt dozens of disabled factory workers in Cornwall could stage a sit-in to save their jobs.
There are reports unions could ballot for action, after it was confirmed Remploy in Penzance will shut.
It is because government is cutting funding.
Keith Shilson from Penwith Anti-Cuts Alliance says it is a slap in the face for more than 30 people who want to work: "For many people, they're not just on the scrap heap in terms of losing their job, but they're going to be in very dire straits. They're going to find it very difficult to have the social life they had before. For them, it would just be devastating".
