Body Found in Helford River

A body has been found in the Helford River, days after a yachtsmen went missing.

Police divers made the grim discovery at Durgan yesterday morning.

The force says it is still trying to identify the body.

36 year old Christian Selman was last seen crying for help near Glebe Beach on Wednesday night.

His dinghy later washed up at the mouth of the river.

Ian Wells is Ferryman at Helford Riverboats: "There's just general sadness that these sort of thigns can happen and question marks over why they happen. If nothing else, I suppose it does give a lesson to people that aren't used to the sea and don't live by the sea as to how dangerous it can be.

"I think everyone's somewhat in shock. It's horrible when something like this happens on your doorstep, so everyone's walking around a little ashen faced. It's very close, everybody will automatically help each other out and that's why I think it also hits harder when something like this happens."
