A suspected arson attack has forced people out of their homes in Bugle.

One person has been treated for breathing in smoke after flames ripped through a garage on New Street on Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: "Two appliances carrying 12 fire fighters from Bodmin attended a call to a detached domestic garage on fire measuring 6 x 3 metres. Crews wore four breathing apparatus and used two main jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. One casualty suffering smoke inhalation was treated on scene by Ambulance paramedics. Once the fire had been extinguished crews ventilated a domestic property which had not directly been involved in the fire but was in close proximity to the garage.

"A fire investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the fire, at this time it is believed to have been started deliberately."
