Damning Report on Winterbourne Stoke Abuse Published
2:46pm 7th August 2012
A damning report is out into shocking abuse at a care home where Cornish patients were treated.
Staff were caught on camera restraining and assaulting residents at Winterbourne View in Bristol.
Health officials have been criticised for ignoring warnings.
The serious case review also calls for changes to the way vulnerable people are looked after to make sure it does not happen again.
11 former employees are due to be sentenced after pleading guilty to 38 charges of ill treatment and neglect.
Owners Castlebeck, which ran Winterbourne View, says it has made changes to ensure abuse never happens at any of its hospitals again.
