Two Men Washed Overboard

(Updated 2:41pm 30th August 2012)
Two men have been airlifted to hospital after their yacht capsized at Trevose head.
One in his eighties managed to pull himself back aboard, after being swept into the sea, and raise the alarm.
The Padstow lifeboat, on exercise off Harlyn Bay, picked up the mayday just before 6pm on Wednesday evening.
You can watch a video from the RNLI below:
A spokesperson said: "In difficult weather conditions the lifeboat crew managed to transfer crew volunteers Steve Swabey and Ryan Masters to the yacht to assist the skipper, and an immediate search commenced. After a few minutes the man was quickly located and taken onboard the lifeboat.
"A helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was also tasked to the scene and using a high line transfer airlifted both the yacht skipper and the crew member from the lifeboat before taking them to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske."
Worsening conditions on the Doom Bar meant that the nine metre yacht was placed on the lifeboat mooring overnight before being towed into Padstow on Thursday morning.
Both sailors are OK.
