X Factor Heartbreak for Cornish Band
6:01am 10th September 2012
A Cornish band have discovered the price of fame on the X Factor.
MK1 auditioned as three best friends on Sunday night but got told one voice was not good enough.
Best friends Will, 27, Charlie,19, and Simeon, 24, entered the competition as a three piece but finished as a duo.
Simeon told the ITV1 show: "We put blood, sweat and tears into this, without trying to be all cliché and anything but this is what we do and we love music."
Newquay student Charlie said: "Music is basically the foundation of our friendship. Making music with these guys is basically one of my favourite things to do."
They sang Read All About It mixed with Written in the Stars by Professor Green, Emilie Sande and Tinie Tempah.
Tulisa said: "Do you want the good news or the bad news first? The good news is, that’s rap. The bad news is, you’re either going to have to become a duo, or get another member."
Speaking to Will, she said: "I need to understand what your involvement is in the band.
"I’m trying to listen to Charlie sing and I just keep hearing you coming in every couple of seconds just wailing over and I can’t hear her beautiful voice.
"It was agitating me, I wanted to enjoy the song and it was just stopping me from doing that."
Gary gave the biggest insult to the hardworking team insisting: "Will, you look like the band's accountant whose come on stage for a song. It just doesn’t work, it really doesn’t.
"I think you should really take this advice, think about how you should move forward from here but you should not be on stage with the band, it’s distracting."
After a brief team meeting on stage Will agreed to drop out so long as he could remain involved in the group.
Afterwards he told Dermot O'Leary: "We put in a year and a half's work into this and for it to stop here would be the biggest shame in the world because it could go somewhere and if I was the person to hold that back I wouldn’t forgive me if I was one of those two guys."
