There is a warning thousands of people in Cornwall could have diabetes without realising it.
A charity says just 25 people in the Duchy have been given a check which could have picked it up.
Health bosses insist they are in the process of rolling out the appointments to all over forties.
Barbara Young from Diabetes UK told Pirate FM other parts of the country are already doing a lot better:
“Some of them may have symptoms but a fair number won’t and it’s really only in some cases when symptoms start to develop that people go to their doctor and discover they’ve got diabetes. But that’s really too late because the symptoms will be the signs that complications have set in.
“That’s a really risky situation because they’re missing out on the vital health checks that they need every year in order to prevent the diabetes form developing into really serious complications like blindness and amputation and stroke and kidney failure”
