Dolphin Stranded in Falmouth

(Updated 8:11am 4th October 2012)
A bid to rescue a dolphin stranded on a Falmouth beach has failed.
A passerby found the creature on Gyllyngvase first thing this morning. She helped refloat it, but it beached again moments later.
A vet was called to the scene and attempts was made to save it, helped by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. Sadly, it has now been put down.
Mark Milburn was among those first on the scene. He told Pirate FM: "We've been covering it with water trying to keep it calm, relaxed.
"At around 6.30am a woman was going past and saw a dolphin swimming around in the sea, very close to shore, looking like it was in distress. She went to see if she could help. She pushed it out to sea, but it swam round in a circle and just came back."8:11am 4th October 2012
