Cornish Singer Out of X Factor
6:01am 22nd October 2012
Cornwall's X Factor star says she regrets not being firmer about her song choices as she is voted off the competition.
Charlie Rundle from Newquay and MK1 sang for survival on Sunday night, the judges took it to deadlock, but they came bottom of the public vote.
The nineteen year old from Newquay and bandmate Sim had performed a Crystal Waters and Tinie Tempah mash up on Saturday. But the judges warned them they should have stuck to the first song.
On Sunday they found themselves in a sing off with Gary Barlow's act Kye Sones.
Voting before deadlock, mentor Louis insisted, "I absolutely love Charlie and Sim and the act I am sending home is Kye."
Gary was loyal to his act, telling him: "That was one of the best sing offs I have ever seen on this show. You are the reason I wanted this category and I'm so sorry you're here. I'm sending home MK1 tonight."
Nicole added: "This is really hard for me. I am such big fans of MK1. I love how fresh and current you are but I have to go off of the save me performance I just saw. So the act I am sending home is MK1."
Tulisa split the decision by siding with Charlie and Sim: "MK1 from the second I saw you guys, you remind me of N-Dubz. You touch a soft spot for me. MK1 you got up and sang a song that N-Dubz do on tour and that was the final straw for me. If I don't stick up for my urban N-Dubz roots here, I'd be lying to myself. So the act I'm sending home is Kye."
As host Dermot announced that the public vote was sending home MK1 Tulisa appeared visibly distraught, holding her head in her hands.
Charlie insisted: "We have had the best time and thank you to everyone who voted for us."
Later, on ITV2, she admitted that she should have been stronger in saying no to some song choices. She said: "I wish I had spoken up sooner in some of our routining sessions. Obviously you do have input in some of the song choices you make but, at the beginning, you don't want to be the diva who says 'I don't want to do that song.'"
