Cornish Goat Wears Wellies
6:01am 18th December 2012
A Probus animal shelter has come up with a novel way to protect one of its goats from the wet weather - wearing wellies!
Twelve year-old Maisie was given the boots after downpours turned her field to mud.
Volunteers are worried it could have led to her hooves getting infected.
Charlotte is one of the people who helps look after animals at Maria's Animal Shelter.
She said: "Because we all wear wellies we just thought it would be a good idea to see if she would wear them. She doesn't keep them on for long but it does keep her feet out of the mud. And it's quite comical to see as well.
"They're bog standard green ones at the moment. But maybe someone at Christmas will buy her some polka dot ones. There are products out there. There are shoes for horses and stuff like that so it would be a good new market - making wellies for goats."
The twelve year old animal was rescued by the shelter and has been living there for six months now.
Volunteers were worried about her since she already suffers from arthritis.
Fortunately, as our pictures show she seems to be taking to the experience like a duck to water... or a goat to wellies.
