St Ives To Become Winter Trading Hub?
8:01am 24th February 2013
There are moves to try and keep St Ives' shops and restaurants open all year round.
Businesses are being asked if they want to set up a Business Improvement District.
It is hoped, among other things, it could help cut the number which close for winter.
Andrew Mounsey from the town's Chamber of Trade, said: "We traditionally are a very busy summer location, and certainly footfall drops away in the winter. And I think it's up to us to make sure that there's enough events and activity to take place in the town to draw people.
"A number of businesses choose not to open, some of the restaurants choose not to open in the quieter January period. But we're hoping with everything that's taking place, more and more businesses will see it as a true all year round trading location."
