Tristan Hunkin Headshot

Tristan Hunkin

Tristan spends most of his time working at extremes of the cultural spectrum. As well as studying Shakespearean representations of children in the nineteenth century (don't ask) he is also in charge of keeping Bob McCreadie in line on Breakfast.

He has worked at a dozen radio stations across the country (that total achieved, mostly thanks to the petty theft) but jumped at the chance to return to the southwest as Head of News at Pirate FM. He lives by himself, dreaming of the day that Keira Knightley moves in.

Matthew Clarke Headshot

Matthew Clarke

Matthew joined Pirate FM after a glittering career working at EMI Records, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Blur, Duran Duran and the Beatles' producer George Martin. The longest serving member of the news team, he trained as a journalist at Falmouth College and went on to work at radio stations across the country, before settling in the Duchy.

When he is not bringing Cornwall the latest news, Matthew performs with his band Skwardya, which made headlines around the world when they performed Beatles hits in Cornish. A fervent supporter of Cornish culture, he speaks Kernewek fluently and independently produces a weekly podcast in Cornish.

Emma Carton Headshot

Emma Carton

Emma is a beach babe and divides her time between Watergate Bay and Porthcurno in the summer, clutching a copy of Harry Potter. A good night in involves a Friends DVD and a large tub of Haagen Dazs Cookies and Cream icecream.

She is often on the frontline for Pirate FM (because her life insurance is the cheapest), presenting news bulletins from the harbourside in the midst of gale force winds, or at the centre of an evacuation zone. A trained chef, she is particularly good at baltis.

Natalie Stanton Headshot

Natalie Stanton

Having grown up near Padstow, Natalie travelled the world before realising that Cornwall was the best place to live. She studied at Wadebridge, St Austell, Bournemouth, Falmouth and the Sorbonne (one or more of the preceding may not be a hundred percent accurate) before joining Pirate FM.

Natalie was the only radio journalist to have spent time aboard HMS Cornwall immediately before the Iran kidnap crisis. On the 29th February she made headlines around the world by proposing to her boyfriend in the middle of a news bulletin. She spends a lot of time at festivals and likes kittens.
