Cornwall Race for Life 2009
Women in Cornwall are being invited to do something amazing by signing up for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life 2009 and raising money for research to help more people survive cancer.
The charity is also asking every entrant to pass on the invitation to friends, family and colleagues now that entry to the events in Cornwall is officially open.
In 2009, organisers are encouraging 6,450 women in Cornwall to put their best feet forward and raise over £316,000.00
Cancer Research UK's Race for Life 2009 is the UK's largest women only fundraising series. Women of all ages and fitness levels are invited to do something amazing by signing up for the 5k event and joining together to walk, jog or run 5k to raise money to help beat cancer.
Many women who walk, jog or run are cancer survivors or are participating in memory or celebration of a loved one whose life has been touched by cancer.

Oh dear.... another weekend gone and no running. I did excercise with gardening - which had to be gentle due to a sore back. 12th July is coming very quickly.....

Hello Ladies, well with only 3 weeks to go I am getting a little worried! I think i am making steady progress but i think I may find myself walking some of the way for the first one! After trying to run on the beach (which if I may point out was HARD work) and trying to do a 2.8mile run yesterday i think i have definatly improved....slightly! Hope all training is going well with you Ladies! The Pirate team cant wait to run with everyone at Falmouth! See you all soon! Happy Training! Tasia x

Hi, Natalie here. Just thought I'd give an update of how my training is coming along. I started about 2 weeks ago by going to Circuit Training classes with a fellow team mate Alison. Last night was my third class and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier, like Emma I too hurt in places I never knew existed! I think I still have a very long way to go before the first race! I will keep you updated on how I'm getting along. Love Nat x P.S. Please click on the Just Giving link above and sponsor us girls. Thank you!

Hi everyone, Emma Carton here and I'm the captain for the Pirate Ladies' Race for Life team 2009! I started my training for the first race last night and I'm feeling quite sore today; muscles are hurting that I didn't even know existed! As I haven't done any running for a while I half ran/half walked the Falmouth course last night and I think if anyone else is just starting their training, definitely take it slow to start with! Don't forget there are spaces left for some of the races so just follow the link on our website if you want to sign up. If not then please, please, please sponsor me and all the girls by clicking on the link above to go to our Just Giving page. Thanks again for your support, Emma xx

In a slight Monday morning daze us girls have created this blog! Planning to run four 5km races really isn't what we wanted to be thinking about today! However, knowing we'll be running alongside many Cornish women supporting such a great cause has given us just enough motivation to get started...
So, here's our blog. We intend to update you on our training, our races and the thrills and spills of the Pirate Race for Life 2009 Team.
Pirate Girls xx
