For the first time Cornwall gets to see what its new ten thousand seater stadium could look like.

Pirate FM has been shown pictures for the Stadium for Cornwall site at Threemilestone.

There is still a funding shortfall before it can be built after the council refused to stump up cash.

But campaigner Rod Lyon reckons the pictures are a boost. He said: "I can't see any reason the council could turn this down. With the conferencing facilities, hospitality, people coming to matches, spending their money in Truro - it's a no brainer."

"A lot of people were starting to think it was dying in the water. But now at long last people can see exactly what stadium is proposed and what it's going to look like. I'm absolutely over the moon. I'm just waiting to book my seat in the stand for the first match."

Outline planning permission has already been granted. But David Matthews from backer, Truro College, said: "I would hope the pictures make everybody in Cornwall feel this could be a great facility for the county. But the thousand dollar question is - can we secure the capital funding to make it happen? And that's a very different issue.

"Of course the project can not go forward unless we secure the funding to enable the building to take shape. But what I think these images really do is show people what could be built and allow people much more to envision the impact for the county."
