About Cornwall's Pirate FM

Playing Real Music Variety, Pirate FM is Cornwall's Number 1 Local Radio Station* - and the only commercial station that actually broadcasts from the Duchy it's proud to serve.

Pirate FM was born on the 3rd April 1992. We were launched by the legendary radio presenter Roger Day, using state-of-the-art computer technology that even saw us featured on BBC TV's "Tomorrow's World".

...and to this day, we are proud to be made IN Cornwall, FOR Cornwall. We broadcast our programming from our studios in Redruth, and cover the whole of the Duchy using two transmitters - one in the West (102.8), and one in the East (102.2).

In fact we even split our adverts, and many of our local news and travel bulletins between the two areas, to enable us to super-serve the communities of the Duchy with relevant information.

We are also available on DAB, and online across the World on PirateFM.co.uk, as well as our free Smartphone and Tablet Apps.

Proud to support Cornwall

We are proud to be the only commercial station to broadcast from the Duchy, and we aim to reflect the things that make our County great. Our presenters and Love Crew can be seen at hundreds of community events across the year, as well as broadcasting from towns and villages across Cornwall every day.

Supporting local talent is key to our approach, and our close-knit team live and breathe Cornwall. Most of our programming team were born here in the Duchy, and all the members of our award-winning News team were either born or educated here.

We are also proud to help support local charities. We are Media Partners with Children's Hospice South West, and our charitable arm, The Pirate Trust regularly makes grants to local causes - giving a helping hand when people most need it.

Fun, Fair, Open, Honest, Professional, Unconventional...

These are the six values that we live and work by every day. This enables us to build up a fantastic relationship with our clients and listeners.

Pirate FM is proud to be part of the UKRD Group, which is based here in Cornwall. The group operates nearly 20 local radio stations across the UK.
