3 Natural Remedies for Pain Relief

Many people around the world experience pain in their bodies, whether it’s chronic pain or a symptom of another ailment that comes and goes. Regardless of the nature of the pain that you experience, of course you want relief from it so you can get back to feeling yourself and go about your day undisrupted. 


The common treatments for pain are over-the-counter medicines like acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Paracetamol) and ibuprofen (the active ingredient in Advil), but with long-term and increased use, these pain relievers may cause side effects like the increased risk of stroke, heart attacks, impaired kidney function and internal bleeding. 


Prescription pain killers are also commonly given to people suffering from chronic or intense pain, but the side effects of those drugs can have even more detrimental effects, particularly causing physical dependency, addiction and substance abuse. 


If you’re wary of these side effects, there are natural remedies that are effective at relieving pain. Here are the three most effective natural pain relievers you can try. 


1. CBD oil

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a type of cannabinoid that’s found naturally in marijuana and hemp plants. There is no THC in CBD, which is the cannabinoid that causes the psychoactive effect, giving you a “high” feeling, so you won’t experience that high with CBD. CBD is increasing in popularity in the medical and health communities because of its effective healing properties, specifically its anti-inflammatory properties. It can be used to reduce pain, inflammation, and general discomfort that relate to a number of different ailments, including arthritis, sciatica, fibromyalgia, migraines and cancer pain.

3. Ginger

There have been studies that show ingesting roughly 2 grams of ginger per day can help reduce muscle pain from exercise after taking it for at least five days consecutively. It’s also suggested that ginger may help accelerate the recovery rate and reduce inflammation that is caused by exercise, which is beneficial if you are an athlete or work out often and feel sore. You can introduce raw ginger into your diet by adding it to tea or smoothies, or you can take ginger supplements, but it’s suggested that the fresh ginger is more effective.
