6 Cleaning Hacks That Will Change Your Life

20th February 2020

Have you been rubbing away at that persistent red wine stain on your woollen carpet for weeks now, but to no avail? Or perhaps you have been staring at that filthy oven for months simply because you have no idea where to start when it comes to cleaning it? There is no denying that some household tasks can prove to be a challenge – no matter how long you've been doing them for! In an attempt to make your life endlessly easier, here are six incredible cleaning hacks that will change your life forever.

Your chopping board

You cut lots of food on your chopping board, hence the reason why it is best to steer clear of any chemicals when giving it a good clean. The best way to get it both sparkling again and smelling great is to clean it with a generous sprinkling of coarse salt all over the surface. Then cut a lemon in half and use one half to gently rub the salt across the board. The roughness of the salt will lift away any residues, while the lemon juice will cleanse and deodorise at the same time.

Your carpet

Practically any tough stain left on your carpet can be remedied with a half a cup of baking soda. The baking soda will pull the excess liquid out of the fibres, and afterwards, you can simply vacuum the rest of it up. If some pigment remains, a vinegar and water solution should do the trick.

If you are renting and the end of your tenancy is coming up, then you can always bring in skilled expert carpet cleaners, like Cleaner Cleaner, to come to your rescue. They have the knowledge and skill to get out stains and dirt so that you can get as much of your deposit back.

Your bathtub

Dirt tends to accumulate in the bathtub pretty quickly, and if it’s not dealt with fast, it can begin to leave some unsightly stains behind. While a regular bathroom cleaner spray will get the job done, it is possible to enjoy similar effects without the use of any chemicals. Try making a paste with a teaspoon of dishwashing soap, water, baking soda, and some antibacterial oils. Mix well and then scrub away!

Stainless steel

Do you own a few stainless steel appliances that are no longer looking shiny and new? There is an easy way to get them looking fresh and gleaming again. Simply clean them with a bit of cream of tartar and an old toothbrush.

Showerheads and taps

The metal on showerheads and taps is often grimy and thick with soap scum and mildew. In many cases, a gentle wipe with a cloth won’t leave them as shimmering and clean as you had hoped. When this happens, simply wrap a plastic bag filled with vinegar over them and leave it to stand for an hour or two. Remove, wipe clean, and admire the glistening results.

Makeup brushes

Clean your makeup brushes with baby shampoo every week to help keep the bristles soft and pliable. Place in the sun to dry to avoid the growth of mould or the development of any unpleasant odours.

With these handy tips, cleaning, and life, will never be the same again!
